Below are some books that my clients have found helpful in times of transition.
Separation:
The co-parenting Handbook by Karen Bonnell
Talking to your children about divorce. Jean McBride
Emotion Coaching
For Parents:
Help your child develop Emotional literacy by Betty Rudd
This books provides parents with an understanding why emotional literacy matters and coaches them in guiding their children towards accepting their feelings and emotional regulation.
For Children:
"My Mixed emotions: Learn to love your feelings."
This is a wonderful book that helps children understand their feelings and provides children with choices and develop resilience.
“How are you feeling today?” by Molly Potter is a great book to facilitate talking abut feelings, and importantly what the child (with parental support) can do to process their feelings.
The two books below emphasize that love is constant even if a parent might be (temporarily) absent. This is helpful for many situations, camp and separation anxiety, family moving, separation to name a few.
The Kissing Hand by Audrey Penn
The Invisible String by Patrice Karst
